This website is supported by people who truly love New Mexico and are dedicated to improving our national ranking and the quality of life for all New Mexicans.

Most New Mexicans would certainly agree that our National Rankings for crime, drug use, and education are both an embarrassment and totally unacceptable.  

The big question is: What can we do about it? 

To find the right answers, we must start by acknowledging that these poor national rankings did not happen overnight, nor were they the result of some fluke or terrible misfortune.  

Our fall from grace has been in the making for many years.  

We have been ranked LAST PLACE in Education for 9 years in a row.  

That constitutes an entire generation of students from first grade to freshman year in high school. These students that we have failed are the very same people we expect to lead us into the future tomorrow. 

The next question often asked is, “Who do we blame for our growing problems of extreme Violent Crime, skyrocketing Drug Use, and having the Worst Educational Results in America?” 

The answer is “Each and Every One of Us” for not demanding that we all do better both personally and politically. This leaves every New Mexican with a simple choice to make: 

“Do we accept this situation and do nothing but continue on the same path that brought us here, OR do we take meaningful action to improve everyone’s lives in New Mexico?” 

The future of our state is entirely in your hands.  

We can either continue to sit on our hands or raise them high and demand more from ourselves, our leadership, and our elected officials.

Dear New Mexican Leadership: 

As a citizen of New Mexico, I am asking you to acknowledge and recognize that New Mexico’s National Rankings in so many important areas have been among the worst in the United States for far too long.   

The following are just some of the many categories in which we are listed as having the lowest rankings in America:

  • New Mexico has consistently ranked last in educational outcomes.

  • We consistently rank among the states with the highest crime rates in the country.

  • We consistently rank as having the highest drug-related deaths.

  • We are ranked the worst in America in 10 major categories.

  • We are listed as the 2nd or 3rd worst in 15 other categories.             

We can’t always blame a lack of money for not being able to address some of these issues. For example, sixteen states spend significantly less money per student on education than New Mexico does, yet each of them has a higher educational ranking than New Mexico. I say with sincere respect and concern that, however well-intentioned you are and however hard you have worked to solve these problems, it simply is not working well enough to improve our situation.  

It will take a strong will and a willingness to approach these issues in a new and more productive way, because obviously, our past efforts have consistently failed us.

Addressing these failures will not be an easy task, but it must be done if we are to create a brighter and better future for all New Mexicans.
