Most New Mexicans would certainly agree that our National Rankings for crime, drug use, and education are both an embarrassment and totally unacceptable.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\r\n

The big question is: What can we do about it?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\r\n

To find the right answers, we must start by acknowledging that these poor national rankings did not happen overnight, nor were they the result of some fluke or terrible misfortune.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\r\n

Our fall from grace has been in the making for many years.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\r\n

We have been ranked LAST PLACE in Education for 9 years in a row.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\r\n

That constitutes an entire generation of students from first grade to freshman year in high school. These students that we have failed are the very same people we expect to lead us into the future tomorrow.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\r\n

The next question often asked is, \u201c<\/span><\/b>Who do we blame<\/span><\/b> for our growing problems of extreme Violent Crime, skyrocketing Drug Use, and having the Worst Educational Results in America?\u201d<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\r\n

The answer is <\/span><\/b>\u201cEach and Every One of Us\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/b> for not demanding that we all do better both personally and politically.<\/span><\/b> This leaves every New Mexican with a simple choice to make:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\r\n

\u201cDo we accept this situation and do nothing but continue on the same path that brought us here, OR<\/span><\/b> do we take meaningful action to improve everyone\u2019s lives in New Mexico?\u201d<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\r\n

The future of our state is entirely in your hands.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\r\n

We can either continue to sit on our hands or raise them high and demand more from ourselves, our leadership, and our elected officials.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\r\n
